HYGIENE PROGRAM

 

This programme includes a showering program and breakfast program.

The aim of the programme is to provide showering, nutrition and primary health aspects to Aboriginal people living in the Coober Pedy area. The Hygiene programme is coordinated, and resourced through Umoona Tjutagku Health Service Aboriginal Corporation’s Drug and Alcohol programme.

 

SHOWERING PROGRAM

 

This programme includes male and female showers and provides opportunity for personal showers, washing of clothes, and provision of clothes .The showers are attended by a male and female Aboriginal Health Worker. As well as helping people to engage in hygienic activity the showering programme reduces infection, assists disease control and provides an opportunity for diagnosing physical illness and concerns as well as relating to caring staff.

Using the washing machines people are able to wash and dry their clothes, or swap them for some newer clothes and shoes.
